1949 Vincent Series B Rapide 1000cc
Priced at £40,000 or very near offer. This fine example of a Vincent is being offered on behalf of the owner. Below is the information he has provided, regarding his Rapide.
My 1949, B series Rapide, one of the very first Vincents to be fitted with girdraulic forks. I have a copy of the original works order which states that the Brampton forks, (standard to B series) were to be replaced with the new Girdraulic forks.
This machine is in VERY nice, almost concourse condition and ridden often always starting easily, often 1st kick , hot or cold.
Very sound, no rattles or mechanical issues. No smoke and uses/loses VERY little oil. (It is British after all)
It won 2 first place, awards last year, the Malden museum of power and the prestigious Copdock multi cylinder, (1944 to 1970) best in show with photos, rosettes to prove both events. A real head turner wherever it goes
It has an uprated, improved clutch, recognised by the VOC and good quality and reliable magneto, fitted 2 years ago. New rear tyre and anything else the bike needs to keep it in tip top condition, ie new carbs and seat, all supplied by the VOC. I've recently had a new 12 volt Alton dynamo fitted by specialist, Len Mathews which greatly improves the charging and lighting, bringing the machine into the modern world. To date a new battery is needed which I will replace before the bike is sold. This is the only known fault.
This machine has the correct numbers, upper frame, engine, all matching the original reg number. Somewhere in the bikes history, the upper frame number has been replaced and stamped with the correct number but in the wrong font, therefore the VOC will not recognise it as a matching numbered bike. My purchase price reflects this and consequently my selling price will do the same. I have nothing to hide and ALL receipts can be shown to the prospective buyer. £40,000, or very near offer.
Any inspection welcome and a test ride given. (pillion).
The only reason for selling....... I'm getting to old to ride classics anymore and have bought a modern, push button starting bike.
