1947 BSA B31 McCandless Conversion 350cc

Priced at £4,000. We originally believed this BSA to be fitted with a McCandless rear frame swing arm conversion, see the updated information below. The McCandless brothers are credited with the invention of the Norton featherbed frame, and before that they offered these swinging arm frame conversions in the 1940's. This is a bike that Andy purchased last year to do the Irish National Rally on. Comes with the latest V5C DVLA registration document, qualifies for free road tax under the "historic Vehicle" class and benefits from being MOT exempt.

I was interested to see your B31 with swinging arm conversion as I have a rigid 350 Ariel with an unknown conversion.
I think your conversion is by Mackenzie rather than McCandless. See attached advert. The conversion is quite distinctive, the odd fork ends are a bit of a give away." See photograph of the Mackenzie Motors advert below.
