A junior Villiers special 148cc
Priced at £1,150. This very interesting small 'Special' features a Villiers pre war Mark XIIC 148cc engine (these engines were in production from 1931 to 1941), with an Albion 3 speed gearbox, in a frame with a rigid rear end & girder forks. The seat height is about 24 inches high. The twin port exhaust pipes are nicely made into a 2 into 1 system & the wheels have been built with larger gauge spokes than you might expect. Although this special is not well finished cosmetically, it shows all the hall marks of being nicely built by somebody who knew what they were doing! This machine came from Devon, with the last owner informing us that his late father had it to ride around his garden on, & that the machine may possibly have been originally Excelsior based. The engine runs quite nicely, the gears works & the bike rides.
