1951 Vincent Rapide 1000
Priced at SOLD Very nice Vincent from a large collection of bikes. This one was with its previous Surrey based owner for over 30 years, Andy had already been to the collection a couple of years ago and purchased several bikes but at the time the owner of this Vincent did not want to part with it. He was however, convinced to move the bike indoors for better preservation. Upon visiting the site more recently it turned out that the owners other half had requested that the bike be moved out of the house again. On this visit the owner was prepared to let the bike go! There is a little bit of work left to do on the bike before it's a runner. The engine turns over nicely, has good compression and seems to have all new bits indside furthur evidenced by the old parts that have been taken out of the engine. Work we have carried out includes a re wire, new armeture in magneto and dynamo checked over. Work needed to finish is mainly the carburettors need slides needles and cabling. All 4 stamped numbers are correct which makes the bike very authentic. This Rapide was originally registered in Kingston upon Hull on the 4th of December 1951. It comes with a whole load of historical documents including old receipts and MOT certificates from the 1960's. We are told that the previous owner spent a significant amount of money on the bike some 30 years ago and there is evidence of this in the documentation. Has a current V5C registration document and qualifies for free road tax under the "Historic Vehicle" class.
