1958 Triumph Trophy TR5 AD 500cc
Priced at SOLD. An enquiry to the Science Museum (22nd of August 1999) brought forth the following information from the factory records. The Triumph was dispatched from the factory on the 6th of February 1958, going to the Triumph Corporation, USA. Believed to have been offered for one year only, the TR5 AD was a special model of the Trophy made at the request of the US importers, with less than 200 of this model built. Unfortunately this model proved expensive to manufacture & retailed for more money than the 650cc models of the time! The differences from a standard TR5 were a Delta cylinder head, twin carburetters & rev counter. We have handled this machine on a previous occasion & are pleased to be able to offer it for sale once again, the last South Wales owner, a regular customer, part exchanged it for a later model Triumph. Has the latest DVLA V5C registration document, is registered for free road tax under the 'Historic Vehicle' class & has the benefit of being MOT exempt.
