1958 Triumph Trophy TR5 AD 500cc
Priced at SOLD. From the factory records (held by the Science Museum at the time of the enquiry dated 22nd August 1999), this matching numbers Triumph was dispatched from the factory on the 6th of February 1958, being supplied to the Triumph Corporation, USA. The TR5AD was a special version of the Trophy, made at the request of the American importers, offered for a short period only (believed to be 1 year only). Less than 200 of this model were built for the US market, the differences from standard TR5 included a Delta cylinder head, twin carburetters & rev counter. Unfortunately this model was expensive to make & had to be retailed at a higher price than the 650cc models, leading to poor sales! The last local owner rode this motorcycle on a regular basis, but has now decided to retire from motorcycling, Comes with a current DVLA V5C registration document, is registered for free road tax under the 'Historic Vehicle' class & has the added perk of being MOT exempt.
