Hi you have given me a nice surprise, just seen your advert in the July "The Classic MotorCycle" listing Scott
CNW 87C.
I bought it in 1965 the first reg in the book. I used it every day for just over two years and did some 22,000 miles then got married
and had other pressures on finance the bike was stored for a number of years it got into a sad state, I did a restoration on it as it was
so bad I had to cut the hubs off and get them rebuilt along with paintwork etc. I notice the cylinder isn't the proper red colour as new.
Also changed the distributor and fitted twin contact breakers and they look to be still there. I sold it to a guy I think from Yeadon,
what can you tell me as to the history you know.
It was bought from Geoff Milner and Harry Langman in Leeds. Harry was a nice man then I was a callow youth who didn't realize his history at the TT and even then 1927 seemed a long time ago. I paid £250 new I think that was below list at that time.
I don't believe it was made in Birmingham by Matt Holder I am sure it was made in Leeds out of some old stock and spares,
by Harry Langman I bought it as a rebuild I believe Geoff Milner had problems getting bike's from Holder at that time.
I would appreciate more photos of the bike mine are all in black and white I have none of the left hand side.
This has awakened some brain cells that gone asleep, last year I had a nostalgic tour around Norfolk where we holidayed
when first married, I went to the Norfolk Motorcycle Museum a bit dusty they had two or three Scott's last year.
I don't know if being built by Harry Langman is a plus or the rebuild a minus. I think living in Leeds was the best place to live
owning a Scott.
