BSA B40 Trials
The machine was built for me by Terry Weedy in Eastleigh in 1991 with the engine being sourced by me from a dealer who sold British Army stores in Lichfield. As it was definately from the Army, my theory is that engine was taken off an Enduro Star order to satisfy a short fall in an Army one. The engine had been serviced priot to me buying it and has run like clockwork. The engine number is B40 B1504 and BSA dating service said it was from a Enduro Star or Roughrider. The frame has been slightly modified for trials and is ex-Army with a number B40GB 3432 which makes it dated as 1967.
Sammy Miller parts are fuel tank, air filter box, exhaust and oil tank.
Additions made by me have been to install Boyer ignition, fit a regulator/rectifier and install a small 12v battery fitted between the fork stanchions to run the system. It has a battery horn and a bicycle speedo to satisfy the law.
Trials tyes are good with loads of tread. I changed the rocker box as the original one was very noisy so the installed one doesn't have a valve lifter facility.
The reason for selling is that I don't compete in trials any more and I'm sure that another owner will have fun with this machine.
The machine is registered for the road and has a V5C.
This lovely BSA sarted very easily at our shop & is very docile, we have made up a paddock stand so the next owner won't always need to find a convenient leaning post (see photographs below). Comes with the latest DVLA V5C registration document, is registered under the 'Historic Vehicle' class for free road tax & is MOT exempt.
